Touching Spirit Bear blog #6

The lessons that Cole learns from the baby birds are that he is just like the baby sparrows, nobody is looking for them and its the same with him. He also learned that life is like a circle, you live, then you nurture those who are alive. Finally, Cole learned that he had no control over his life. He sees that he isn't as tough as he thinks he is.

Touching Spirit Bear, chapters 2&3

When Cole arrives on the island he doesn't take isolation very well. Right after Garvey and Edwin leaves he burns down his shelter and all of his supplies. He does this because he feels that nobody cares about him, so why should he care about the things other people made for him. He thinks that everyone dumped him on this island not to teach him a lesson, but to get rid of him.
Cole also see's the Spirit Bear and immidiatly wants to kill it. The bear hasn't done anything at all, cole just wants to kill it because it simply isn't scared of him. So Cole makes a spear so tht the next time he see's the Spirit Bear, he can kill it.
Cole does all of these things out of anger. Out of anger toward his parents, himself, and anybody else he knows.

Touching Spirit Bear, essay 1.

Cole's attitude toward life is that nobody cares about him. He believes that his parents wished he were dead and that everyone else just thought he was some troublemaker who didn't give him a second glance. "he hated his parents. His mom acted like a scared Barbie doll, always looking good but never fighting back or standing up to anyone. His dad was a bullheaded drinker with a temper. He figured everything was Cole's fault. Why wasn't his room clean? Why hadn't he emptied the garbage? Why hadn't the lawn been mowed? Why was he even alive?" And because of that attitude he spends his time being angry and getting into trouble. He does this because he wants the attention from his neglectfull parents as well as the other people around him.
I don't really know of anyone with Cole's same attitude towards life.
